Web Development & E-Commerce Web Design in Lancashire

Client Requirements.

Children’s Fashion Retail eCommerce Website Design & Development Project

As a business that thrived during the COVID-19 pandemic, with Lancashire’s high street shops closed, Perfect Little Thing needed a new website that could grow with them with a responsive support team on hand to serve them and their growing customer base.

Their website was on the eCommerce Platform EKM, which restricted the amount of flexibility and customisation that could be added or developed to suit their growing needs. They also did not want to be tied down to the platform fees and want more control and ownership over their website.

One of the main requirements was that all of the customer, order and product data were transferred over to the new website so that the transition to the new website was as seamless as possible.

Our Solution.

We chose WordPress with WooCommerce as the solution for this project, as it allows full flexibility with its open source codebase, can be expanded upon, can be developed to look exactly as the client desires and it is widely supported.

We started this project the same way we start any of our new websites, with a full redesign for both desktop and mobile users. Our design process ensures the final product looks exactly how the client wants, without restrictions or limit on the number of revisions.

Whilst we have never migrated from EKM before, having completed a lot of eCommerce migrations in the past allowed us to understand the data structure, export it, manipulate it into a format that was ready for WooCommerce mapping and import it onto the new website. This process successfully imported all customers, orders and also all product data, including images, categories, stock levels and variable product options.

The result of this redesign, redevelopment and migration was a brand-new website, built specifically with Perfect Little Thing’s customers in mind, with a considered user journey and heavy importance on mobile usability.
