What Are The New Features On the Magento 2.3.0 Platform?

Magento has grown to become one of the most sought-after platforms for e-commerce. It is full of highly useful and easy to use tools to help every commercial enterprise flourish online by reaching more clients and making purchasing online easier than ever before.

Magento’s recent update to 2.3.0 includes a whole host of brand-new features to help continue Magento’s success by aiding online merchants fuel their growth. The new updates also help us as developers; some of the new features make it easier for us to meet customer expectations quicker and easier than we previously could.

We’ve picked out just a handful of new features included in Magento 2.3.0 to see what they will bring to the table:

1.     Multi Source Inventory (MSI)

Merchants need to be able to manage their inventory closely which they can do with the new update’s addition of MSI. The MSI reduces the need for third-party extensions or platforms to handle their inventory sources. Stock management can now be done across a number of different locations meaning merchants can have a more up-to-date reflection of their true physical stock.

Checkout performance is also greatly improved thanks to a new reservation system that reserves product quantity in stock instead of automatically decrementing inventory when an order is placed.

2.     Page Builder

This is one new feature included to help improve the usability for merchants whom can now create customisable pages without the need to write code themselves. The interface is a simple drag-and-drop based on the revised Bluefoot CMS from Magento.

3.     PWA Studio

One major appeal to merchants is how well a platform can work on mobile devices. With nearly three quarters of consumers engaging in mobile shopping, Progressive Web Apps (PWA) give merchants the power to deliver seamless mobile options to their customers and help boost engagement and conversions.

PWA delivers mobile commerce that works as fluidly as any mobile app and is incredibly reliable. PWAs are front-end technology, usually built on JavaScript framework for handling data and displaying it, communicating with the backend via Magento 2.

4.      ElasticSearch Updates

Previously reserved for Magento Commerce only, ElasticSearch will be part of the package for Magento Open Search users. Search capabilities are given a powerful boost and can now perform faceted searches, filtering by attributes, it supports multiple languages, offers stopwords as well as many other features.

5.     Cache Management ACL

You are now in more control than ever before with the level of access for different team members. This new feature allows a restricted level of access to be handed to a specific member of the team, like a new hire, who might need time to fully get to grips with the system cache.
